How could PM Modi have remained so tight-lipped? How come there was no air of such a move earlier? Why was it intentionally announced in the late hours? How come even the cabinet ministers did not know about this announcement.
No one had an iota of the idea about this ground-breaking news. The citizens of India could not believe their ears when they heard the news to ban Rs.500 & Rs.1,000 notes. How did PM Modi manage to achieve all this? That too, with such credibility and finesse? Surely, the game-changer move has swept the nation off its feet.

Cabinet meetings, only a few weeks ago. There was a circular issued to all the personal staff of the cabinet ministers for this move. This breakthrough was aimed at not disclosing the news earlier, even by few minutes.
Made sure that the news doesn't leak out before his speech ends. And he took all possible measures for this, leaving no stone unturned. As always, he was successful at this too.
All the members at the time of the meeting in the room had to be in quarantine. They were not allowed to leave before the speech was over. Not even the RBI officials, nor the ministers were permitted to step out.

There is no problem in depositing upto 2.5 lakhs rupees, but beyond that would attract a penalty of 200%. Moreover, there will be an eye of the Income Tax department on the people who deposit more than 2.5 lakh rupees.
