The Vietnam War will always be revived as one of the controversial wars in American history. The idea of sending American boys thousand of miles away to fight against the spread of Communism was probably the toughest pill for a lot of people to swallow.
If you are not aware of the Vietnam War, let me tell you, if you went there as a Marine you apparently weren't coming back. Luckily, these four Marines managed to make it out alive.
This story will both astound you and bring tears to your eyes.
Tom Hanks, Dennis Puleo, Bob Falk, and Bob DeVenezia were preparing to depart for Vietnam. Stationed together at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, California, the four friends took a photo on the beach.
The men shipped off to Vietnam and bonded in the unique way that only war can bring.
To see each other again, the four planned the trip and the photo shoot. And, what's interesting is, they get themselves clicked at the same place and exactly same day 50-years later.
And, in between the time, a whole war, careers, marriages, children, and grandchildren have happened.
...of Cinnamon Beach on Florida's northeast coast, these 4 U.S. Marine veterans gathered around a yellow long board turned upright.
Even after having grey hair and wrinkled skin and undefined stomachs now, the picture looks the perfect copy. It's hard to believe that the photo on the left is before the Vietnam War and between that and the right one, the whole life happened.
"But one with a lot of heart behind it," he continued.
Though decades has passed since being parted by the war, the veterans were smirking like old pals and bestowing life as if no time has passed.
