According to a study published in an edition of Organization Science, more and more celebs are falling prey to what we call as the 'Oscar-divorce' curse. What does it even mean? The Oscar-divorce curse is attributed to actors and actresses in Hollywood who have experienced separation or divorce from their partner after scoring the big win.
It was also said that actresses are more susceptible to this curse as compared to actors, Kate Winslet being the latest actress to join the list after winning the Oscar in 2009.
Eddie Redmayne won the Oscar for this performance in 'The Theory Of Everything' at the 87th Annual Academy Awards and got a divorce shortly after.
Kate Winslet won the Oscar in 2009 and trouble began in her marriage. Shortly after, she announced the split with her husband, Sam Mendes.
In 2010, Sandra Bullock wasn't able to feel happy about her Oscar win for the Best Actress as she was hit by the cheating scandal involving her then-husband, Jesse James.
Later that same year, Reese filed for divorce from Ryan Phillippe, when she won the Best Actress.
Winning an Oscar award means a 'positive shift' in the status of the individual which directly impacts their personal life and causes problems in the relationship. Many famous couples have fallen prey to this curse.
Kate Winslet, Sandra Bullock, Hilary Swank, and Reese Witherspoon have been the recent examples.
Two-time Oscar-winning actress, Hilary Swank also won the award in 2004 for her movie 'Million Dollar Baby' and later divorced her husband, Chad Lowe, in 2007.
Gorgeous actress, Halle Berry won the Oscar for 'Monsters Ball' in 2002 and then split with her husband 3 years later.
