After more than a year of keeping it under wraps, Kate Winslet is finally talking about her divorce with the director, Sam Mendes. The 36-year-old actress said that the proceedings of the divorce began while she was shooting her Emmy-winning role of Mildred Pierce (who also separates from her husband).
Kate admitted that her personal anguish related to the character so much that after a while she didn't have to act.
Trouble began after Kate Winslet won the Oscar in 2009.
Kate is reportedly dating Sir Richard Branson's nephew, Ned Rocknroll and is on the top game of her career.
She said that it was equally hard for both of them, but they're grown-ups and they managed to handle it well.
Kate would bottle up her feelings for the sake of her two children, but eventually, she had to face what was happening.
Kate has two children, daughter, Mia, 12, with her first husband, Jim Threapleton and Joe, 8, with Sam Mendes.
She wished the divorce didn't happen, but she can't control the situation now. The best she can do is be there for her kids and give them have a good future.
Even though things got hard for her because of the divorce, Kate managed to hang on for the sake of her kids and pulled through this tough time.
They're fine with each other and there are no bitter feelings. Sam and Kate continue to be friends and care for the children together.
