"Bears will maul you, this I know, for the Bible tells me so..."
Holy scriptures are our guide to lead a happy life, but if you go through them deeply, you'll also find some facts and stories that make them un-religious. They're not only our tool to spiritual life, but they also talk openly about sex, crotch, and what not. It looks so downright.
And guess what? When Biblical stories are illustrated, they tell you a different story. Have you ever read in Bible that a culprit who rapes a woman can get away with it easily by just paying victim's father? Yes! That's truth; it's mentioned, and you don't even know. Our school teachers always handpicked the verses each and every day to build our perception towards Christianity, and our knowledge about the religion was limited to their teachings.
Evan Mascagni has illustrated these stories in his book 'Bible Says What!?' and it tells you an entirely different story. Almost 88% of the American households own at least one Bible, and only 37% of them read it once in a week. Let's find out a few sample illustrations and how they reveal some of the huge problems in Bible.

"Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. 'Go away, baldy!' they chanted. 'Go away, baldy!' Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled 42 of them." - 2 Kings 2:23-24
"Women should remain silent in churches. They are not allowed to speak but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church." - Corinthians 14:34-35
"If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father 50 shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives." - Deuteronomy 22:28-29
"When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives or your wealthy neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the disabled, the lame, the blind and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be reimbursed at the resurrection of the righteous." - Luke 14:12-14
"If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity." - Deuteronomy 25:11-12
Recommended story: Bible Verses That You Never Read
"Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, 'May you never bear fruit again!' Immediately the tree withered." - Matthew 21:18-22
"Get behind me, Satan!" - Matthew 16:23
Mascagni's book shows the exact and literal meaning of what God has to say about both Good and Bad ends. He also added, "This book is an attempt to demonstrate that we don't need a massive, outdated and complicated book to learn how to treat each other with decency. Sure, there are some nice teachings in it, but there are some amusing ones too."
A lot of us wouldn't agree to this, but this man is right. Mascagni's idea behind this book is to spread a message that let's stop taking this book damn seriously as we do. Every human deserves equal rights.
