MUMBAI: Caesar, the last surviving legend of the 26/11 who saved many lives during 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, had died at a retirement animal home in Virar on Thursday morning.
Caesar, a Labrador Retriever, was covered with the Tricolor and buried with full state honors. He received an emotional farewell from the city's police force.
"He was suffering from depression, as his earlier canine buddies, Max, Tiger and Sultan died a few months ago. He was admitted to the Animal Hospital in Parel for arthritis and other old age diseases for a month, and he miraculously recovered. But since the past week, there was a relapse, He was unable to walk properly, and he was extremely week from the last two days." said Fizzah Shah, owner of the retirement farm, Virar, Mumbai.

"The brave, alert & efficient Caesar will be remembered fondly for his services. An emotional moment for all of us," tweeted Mumbai Police Commissioner DD Padsalgikar, with hashtag #RIPCaesar.
"Services of retired member of dog squad, during 26/11 will be unforgettable. We will miss our hero immensely," tweeted The Mumbai Police's official handle.
