It's time to pay serious attention!
It's estimated that nearly 20% of India's population will be suffering from mental diseases by the year 2020.
As the number of people struggling with mental diseases increases, it becomes very crucial for people to stay alert and to pay serious concern. So, here are some facts about mental health you need to know right now.
In 2011, it was estimated that 6-7% of the Indian population suffers from mental diseases. If we take a rough estimate, that's nearly 7 crore people.
There would be nearly a 15% rise in the number of people suffering from mental diseases.
The ratio is higher in the urban areas as compared to rural areas. The metropolitan cities across the nation reported having the maximum patients being referred to the psychiatry department.
Considering this fact, only one mental health professional is allotted per 3,000,000 citizens in India. I think some changes are necessary.
It was also said that the suicide rates are high in the population aging from 15 to 29 years. If India's youth gets more and more prone to commit suicide, what will happen to the country's future?
Here in India, people suffering from mental issues don't talk about their condition and hence don't reach out for treatment.
Most of the mental issues can be treated with medication and the person can go back to normal. But treatments should be taken at the right time before the patient's condition becomes worse.
