Engaging in discrimination between a girl and a boy is a taboo now. It's the time we make our daughters realise that they are "not a boy, but a bold and beautiful human being". No comparisons, please!
It's imperative to rise above the girl-boy difference and value our innate capacities and abilities as God's hand-crafted humans on this earth. Being born as a human being on this planet is itself a blessing. A result of our good deeds in our earlier births! Moreover, it's on us how we benefit from this opportunity! The birth of a girl child is equally auspicious as a male child's.
There are definitely different duties for both of them in society, but overpowering either is no solution to any problem. A considered insight and toleration will do great wonders, if practiced fairly!
A girl is the baby-bearer, she carries it for 9 long months in her womb, what can be a better example of strength, love, patience, care and dedication? She is the one who completes the human race. Coming over to the Hindu mythology, we worship girl child as being the harbingers of good fate and fortune for the family. If we can worship her, then why not celebrate her birth?
Congratulations, you have been blessed with a Girl, an Angel! This is what I would want to hear wherever a girl is born in this world. Wish this comes true soon!
It's all about Being the Change we wish to see in the world! I can say with confidence, the society has started to change now. I am the second girl child of my parents. They have provided me with equal and more-than-needed opportunities to grow and pursue my dreams.

A girl is buoyant, cheerful and lively. A girl, chirpy by nature has the courage to bring down her father's temper by a sweet and gentle smile on her face. Her happiness is a stress-buster for the complete family. The family smiles when she smiles. She makes a house, her home! Such is her aura! She binds the family.
She is the one who does not give up easily and inculcates the gesture of care and concern for each and all. Value her and her persistence!
This is where a boy takes backseat. A girl has the stature to keep culture alive. This is in-born in her. She is the one who is able to maintain and preserve relations through her tolerance and perseverance. Celebrate her!
A girl or rather a woman is more patient. She plucks enough strength to hold on for 9 months and then gather as much strength to deliver the baby. Something a boy or a man would find dreary even to think about.
A girl is powerful, she has the ardour to keep the Dharma, or moral order intact. She may be terrifying in times of adversaries but, is full of compassion and love. She believes in herself. Don't dare to conceive her as being naive! Dude, a warning for you!
The world today is trying to give equal opportunities to both genders. Girls are using these for their best and leaving no stones unturned to achieve their dreams and aspirations.
A girl child is beauty and innocence personified. A daughter will be a Mother, a Sister, a Wife, a Friend and most importantly, a Girl with eternal beauty. Every man needs a Mother, Sister, Wife, then why not a DAUGHTER? *Think*
Malala Yousafzai- the girl needs no introduction for her heroic act. She was just a teenager then. Malala is surely an incarnation of Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Durga. Enough reasons to celebrate her, now! The birth of a girl child must be celebrated equally, for the wisdom, courage and her intellectual pursuit. They are not born to die! Appreciate her!

So, this 11 October, celebrate International Day of Girl Child, go to an orphanage. Try and spread smiles by celebrating our girls. Adopt them, and celebrate their birthdays with full pomp and show!
