When I was in class 10th, I wanted to pursue Commerce as well as Biology.
When I was done with 12th, I wanted to enjoy my college life as well as my sports career.
When I passed out of my college, I wanted to work to earn and not even leave my leisure.

You know what is the sad thing in life? Not being able to live everything. And you know what is worse than that? Not being able to live the present moment in the dismay of what you missed. Because maybe I would have been a different kind person if I was able to do everything or maybe I feel inferior to the people who have pursued the career which I wanted to.

But how are these things related to fear... I mean I might be sounding regretful. Right? Come on then, today we will have a philosophical upfront of what fear actually is.

Osho says that we are afraid of nothing but TIME and even death is a constraint of time. Yes, not being able to compete with time is our biggest fear, not being able to get time to pursue commerce and biology was due to time, not being able to do everything is all due to time because certainly, time bounds your thoughts and decisions.

You should know that you are affected by fear. You should know that it is chasing you. There are many fears, but fundamentally they are only offshoots of one fear, branches of one tree. The name of the tree is death.

Even I was affected with a fear of death when I started having health issues and it was with me for a long time. Because of the physical health, I was also affecting my mental health, which would have ultimately eaten me up. So, it's better to realize before your fear actually starts growing.

It is significant to realize that all other fears are only offshoots, because then something can be done if you know the very roots. Identify the cause and the type of your fear. What are you afraid of actually? Yes, there are a variety of fears; Are you afraid of not having a company on weekends and then keeping yourself busy to run from loneliness; the feeling of being inferior is haunting you? What is it you are really running from?

Yes, changes are a part of life. When you look into the mirror and find that you no longer look the same, you are scared. Losing your youth, emergence of wrinkles and ultimately death will come. But what can you do? These are all forms of life. Existence is beginningless and endless. It has always been here and you have always been here. Forms may have been different; forms have been different even in this life.

My father always said that money cannot buy everything. Still, we find a lot of people who keep on holding money for protection. Fear is only a shadow. It may not be apparent if you are afraid of going bankrupt, but you are really afraid of being without money and becoming more vulnerable to death.

Yes... I mean really, who are you? Almost all of us must have looked a-different-me into the mirror. A better-me and a worse-me. Yes, analyze yourself, what were you once and what are you now. What made you grow and what is haunting you. Don't try to be perfect since there is always going to be setbacks.

Notice and talk to people who once faced the same fear which you have now. Ask them how they were able to cope with it and try to adopt the same. Being your individual self and not asking for help is not a good choice.

Whatever you are doing, do it totally. Dusting, walking, washing the clothes, cooking the food, or even when you are sitting doing nothing. Because if you live rightly, the problem and fear of time disappear. And when you live fully, there will be no questions of tension. The fear is basically that: I have not yet been able to live, and time is moving, and it cannot be recovered. But when you live fully, you are not scared of the changes because you will have no regrets that you didn't get time to actually live.

A deep meditation will help you to know that your body will die and your mind will die. Meditation brings you face to face with the reality. Meditation is the only way to discover your deathlessness because it will help you to know on your own what life is. Meditation is nothing but a way to learn how to do a thing totally -- once you have learnt, make your whole life a meditation, forget all about meditations, let the life be the only law, let the life be the only meditation. And then time disappears. And remember, when time disappears, death disappears.

What... are you afraid of people judging you? Or laughing at you... Stop being self-conscious about how you look or sound while you talk.

Imagine and imagine the situations which scare you, and now what, you are still alive. It sometimes helps to challenge fearful thoughts. And when you actually go through that situation, you will know that you have been through it before also, and you can survive this time too.

Well, a therapy can be a solution to every problem you have. Yeseverything is possible. But I am sure you would doubt that it is just a suggestion and no one could actually get helped by a therapy, but please try it once. They have got techniques to help and make you think in a different way.

Go for an inspirational novel or a movie which might help you to change your mind. Yes, they can have a strong impact on your personality. Read about Socrates, read about his perspective towards life. His disciples started crying when he was dying-- and it was natural. Socrates opened his eyes and said, Stop! What are you doing? Why are you crying and weeping? I have lived my life, and I have lived it totally. Now death is coming and I'm very enthusiastic about it. I am waiting with such great love and longing; with hope. A new door opens, life reveals a new mystery... only a few of these lines are so powerful, so I am sure, reading the whole story will definitely motivate you.

The food you eat has a major impact on how you feel. Sugars, additives, sweeteners and other chemicals in your foods have a strong effect in getting your body out of balance.

Thinking and imagining is good, but overthinking might lead you to depression. Comparing yourself with others and not being able to raise up to their level can lead to the fear of complex. Looking yourself as an inferior person will certainly increase the degree of your fear. Actually, the very basic thing you need to understand is that it is your brain that produces all the negative thoughts. The fear of loneliness, the fear of complex, the fear of death. 

With this point, I would like to relate myself with one I stated previously, that whatever you are doing, do it wholly, you are occupied and therefore there is no room for unfruitful thoughts.

Running from your fears is not a way to defeat them. We have always been taught to face them. Okay if escaped today, then what about tomorrow? So, why don't you just face the reality today and realize that what your fear was all about! Analyze yourself and just go ahead.

Just involve in what you are doing. When you are in love, you forget time, isn't it? If you live rightly the problem of time disappears, the fear of time disappears. Be so consumed by the work you are doing, follow the saying 'work is worship'. No matter how small or insignificant is your work, but once you start loving the things you do, you will have no track of the time.

It is your life, don't sacrifice it for any sort of foolishness that has been taught to you. It is your life, live it. Don't sacrifice it for words, theories, countries, politics, don't sacrifice it for anybody. There are many who are ready like butchers; they can get hold of you; and they have implanted within you conditionings. There are people who are ready to exploit you. Yes, this is the natural human tendency, because they are never happy with the success of others. But the right to your mind should be only yours.

Death will ultimately come to you. But it does not take your life away. Because death is nothing but a change, a vital change, a little bigger change, a quicker change. Confusing right? Actually, death is a quantum jump from one body, from one form into another form. But it is not an end to you. You were never born and you never die. You were always here and you will be.

Okay, now let's talk on a different note. Let me ask you something... how can you be afraid of something which is unknown to you? Yes absolutely, how can you be afraid of death? Have you experienced it before... who knows that it could be better, I mean death can bring an end to your existing being but it can also be your new life. To be precise, according to us time passing means life passing.

I know you might be brainstorming at this very moment because we grew up thinking that death is a separation and because of this, it was considered as a fear. But we never really thought that why are we afraid of it... certainly not because of someone's departure, but due to TIME, because it is the time that is bringing the death.

This life is not the only life; there have been thousands and thousands of lives in the past and there will be thousands and thousands in the future. You were here earlier and you will be here later, just the very form of you will change.
