Addiction to drugs is now a thing that has the whole world in its clutches. There's probably not one place on this Earth which does not have people getting high on one or the other of the various compounds available for the thing. While drugs have a scary effect on the health and lives of people who're addicted to it, it also seems to have a trickle-down effect, and a negative one at that, on the people near and around those who're addicted to them. And if there's one story which speaks of it loud and clear, it has to be this one.
Check it out!
When Liverpool officers saw a Ford Explorer rushing erratically through the streets, they pulled it over, only to find James Acord in a state of semi-consciousness, and Rhonda Pasek passed out next to him. But the worst thing of all was that Pasek's four-year-old son was in the back seat!
The cops took photos of the site to use as a means of spreading public awareness about what heroin does to people.
He told the cops that he was taking Pasek to the hospital, and tried to drive away instantly. But the cops were quick and pulled the keys from the ignition.
Rhonda has been arrested before on charges including DUI charges and a drug possession charge in 2011.
Both James and Pasek had passed out by the time EMT arrived. As soon as they arrived, they administered them with Narcan to counteract the effect of the heroin in their systems, and the two were rushed to a hospital.
Acord pleaded no contest while Pasek pleaded not guilty. Acord has been slapped with 180 days in jail, with a 3-year suspension of his licence and a $475 fine. Pasek, on the other hand, was held on a $150,000 bond until her next court appearance.
Drug addiction has now turned into a full-blown epidemic in the United States.
