Maintaining a healthy body weight is an important part of your health, wellness, and quality of life. But that does not mean that it is easy. More than one-third of U.S. adults- about 78.6 million people- are overweight. Many are trying to loose that excess weight through diet, exercise, and by several other lifestyle changes. If you struggle with weight loss and haven't given up, don't give up now.
An Arizona man, Pasquale 'Pat' Brocco, 31 has lost more than 300 pounds of weight after compelling himself to walk to his local Walmart which was about a mile away everyday for every single meal.
This is the motivating story of how a person can change his whole life by his strong determination and will power.
When this picture was taken, Pasquale 'Pat' Brocco, was 28 years old. He had a great life but could not enjoy it to the fullest due to his excess weight. He was teased by this name, ever since he was a toddler. "My drug of choice was food, and I abused it for so many years not knowing the harm I was causing", Pat says.
Brocco's life was at a serious risk. He was suffering from high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Pat was told by the doctor that he might die in his sleep, then he decided not to give up without a fight.
He was so disgusted that he threw out all the food in his Avondale home and everytime he felt hungry, he used to walk 6 miles to Walmart and purchase his meal and walk back after that. This proved to be life changing decision.
He swapped out half a gallon of milk for water after he realised dairy was his downfall and also switched apple pies and chesse burger with asparagus and sweet potatoes. He ate 24 oz of chicken beast instead of 100 chicken nuggets.
"My stomach was down to my thighs. My chest was hanging down here", he said. It is rightly said, "Nothing worth comes easy", although he had to struggle a lot but now the results are captivating.
About two years at the beginning of his weight loss struggle, he was 605 lbs. The yellow part represents the dangerous fatty areas, it was all over his body, that is around 52%. Now, he is at 11.1% body fat and had lost 320 lbs and 40.9% body fat. Isn't this amazing?
Recently, Pat went through a surgery and he got 30 pounds of extra skin removed from his body. The above image displays his back before and after the surgery.
Pat wrote on an Instagram post, 'It's not just wanting to change, we have to believe we can change.'
'If anyone is going to believe in you, start with yourself. There are no limitations, we only set them in our minds.'
'We can become who, and what, we want!'
He is truly a great example to all of us.
Pat is truly an example for all the people that they can achieve whatever that want to just by working towards it with a positive mindset.
