Will you believe if I say that the picture which I am gonna show you in the story is not of a polar bear but something else? No? Well, at first glance I thought that it is a polar bear but actually it was not.
Let's check out what it is!
Recommended story: This young artist is building a mesmerizing city with 'paper'!
But this real looking animal is actually a paper sculpture. Got shocked? Yes, it is the paper sculpture made by Calvin Nicholls.
Quite real, isn't it?
He has been working on them since 1986.
While some pieces get complete within a month, some others take 1-2 years for completion.
These real looking creatures are finely carved using multi-layered paper sculptures. Calvin cuts the paper, makes tiny pieces and layers them on each other.
He then assembles the pieces together and carefully sets studio lighting to add shadow and depth.
This talented artist has created over 500 pieces till date.
Calvin has made paper zoo for exhibiting his paper sculptures.
Calvin explained, "I want people to be drawn in to explore the work and to consider the medium. Although I have completed pieces in full color, I continue to experiment with the interaction of light and shadow."
