Will you believe if I say that the picture which I am gonna show you in the story is not of a polar bear but something else? No? Well, at first glance I thought that it is a polar bear but actually it was not.
Before starting the work, Calvin studies the animal to depict
the musculoskeletal features correct in his art.
These real looking creatures are finely carved using multi-layered paper sculptures. Calvin cuts the paper, makes tiny pieces and layers them on each other.
Calvin makes a final drawing using scalpels, scissors, and X-ACTO knives.
He then assembles the pieces together and carefully sets studio lighting to add shadow and depth.
Calvin uses the combination of shadows and light to bring
his sculptures to life.
This talented artist has created over 500 pieces till date.
He also conducts several exhibitions of his artwork in North
Calvin has made paper zoo for exhibiting his paper sculptures.
Calvin explained, "I want people to be drawn in to explore the work and to consider the medium. Although I have completed pieces in full color, I continue to experiment with the interaction of light and shadow."
