He is the most famous character as he is considered to be the ultimate source of knowledge and the greatest well-wisher of all the living beings. The Bhagavad Gita was his biggest contribution to mankind and even today people are inspired by his character and good deeds. In a way, he was one of the greatest spiritual healers of the world.

Kamsa was the evil ruler of Mathura, and his people were utterly terrified of him. When Kamsa's sister Devaki was married off to Vasudeva, a voice from the sky was heard forecasting that Devaki's eighth son would be the destroyer of Kamsa. Since then he decided to kill all the babies of Devaki. But when Krishna was about to take birth as the eighth son, Lord Vishnu himself came to the rescue of Devaki and saved the child and then in latter years Krishna killed Kamsa.
The Hindu God Krishna is said to have many unnamed junior wives. The number is mentioned between 16,000 to 16,100 in different scriptures.
