Vehicles like autos and taxis have a yellow number plate with the number written with black on it.
Vehicles that belong to foreign consulates bear have a light blue number plate with white color text written on it.
The President of India and governors of states travel in a car that has red number plates on it. The text is written with white which indicates it to be licensed number plate. It has Emblem of India in gold embossed on it.
If you see a black number plate with yellow text written on it, it simply means that the vehicle is available for self-drive.
If you have a private vehicle, you would see white number plate with black text written on it.
These number plates are reserved for a military vehicle where the number plate is registered with Ministry of Defence in New Delhi. The upward pointing arrow is known as Broad arrow.
If it does not have an emblem of India embossed in it, it simply means that it is a test vehicle. Vehicle manufacturers use red number plates while testing and promotion of their new vehicle.
