Bollywood Celebrities have been mocked at choosing the wrong films, acting skills and dancing abilities. Some Bollywood celebs turned down various multi million endorsement deals just because they thought that it would affect the society in an adverse manner. These celebs deserve respect from the society in return.
Here's a list of Bollywood celebs who rejected endorsements for social causes
Kangana Ranaut is rarely seen doing advertisements as she focuses more on quality cinema. We are also sure that it's a matter of choice and not that she doesn't have advertisements. Recently, a fairness cream wanted to appoint her as her brand ambassador and she turned down the offer by explaining that her sister is dusky and beautiful and it would further insult her. She further adds that she can't do this to her sister, how can she think of doing it to the entire nation.
Aamir Khan is known for picking up social issues and bringing it to the limelight. He endorses only those things which he thinks will be helpful for the society. Recently, when a luxury car brand approached him to sign a deal he turned it down. He refused the offer because he thought that this can't help the society.
Randeep Hooda had been approached for endorsing a fairness cream brand but he turned it down by saying, "It's a colonial hangover to be fair in India and India as a country is obsessed with fairness whereas the whole world is lying under the sun and getting a tan." He further added that "I think men should be tall, dark and handsome."
John started his career for an advertising agency and then worked as a model before turning an actor. Being a bike enthusiast he has been associated with bike ads. John has strictly stated that he will never endorse a cigarette or an alcohol brand.
Amitabh Bachchan was a person who has been saved by the television industry when his acting career was going down and so the legend was flashing across television screens from just wall paints to baby clothing but Big B doesn't do everything that is offered to him. He stopped endorsing a cola brand after he was questioned by a little girl why does he endorse "poison." By poison, she meant cola brand because she was told by her parents that it is poison.
Big B did not find this right and he stopped endorsing the brand. He also turned down another endorsement which is said to have its script based on dowry.
Ranbir Kapoor is very selective when it comes to movies and the same is the case with endorsements. He turned down a fairness cream endorsement because according to him such advertisements only lead to the racist stereotypes associated with the skin color of a person.
He said that he doesn't want to be a part in spreading such wrong message to the society.
We all know about the hard work Akshay has done in his movies. Health and fitness are the most important thing for hard work. His passion for his health is the same as the passion for stunts. So, this does not come as a surprise when he turned down a Pan Masala add because he thought it was not in the best interests of people's health.
