'Man vs. Wild' is apparently the gutsiest show on the world television of all times. Bear Grylls, the host of the survival show needs no introduction. The show has a huge global audience and keeps surprising its audience with more and more shocking survival adventures. Even though the show gets a little a little gross at times (thanks to Grylls' ability to gulp down raw intestines of goats and yaks) the viewers have enjoyed watching the show and even learning the survival tips.
Apart from the fact that Grylls is really a tough guy within, most of the viewers of 'Man vs. Wild' don't know much about him. Here we have 11 amazing facts about Bear Grylls you probably never knew!
His real name is Edward Michael Grylls. When he was just a week old, his sister Lara gave him the name 'Bear', and that's what stuck forever.
He was trained in trauma medic, unarmed combat, evasive driving, parachuting, demolitions, and jungle warfare there. The hard work done during his service reflects in his current show's adventures.
This happened only 18 months after when his parachute ripped off at 16,000 feet, and he fell to the ground and crushed three vertebrae. Freakin' one and a half year and the guy climbed the highest peak on the planet!
Through this, Grylls raised funds for a friend who had lost his legs in a climbing disaster.
But he was rejected since he did not have an Indian citizenship. He later spent some time with the Indian army mountaineering and trekking in Sikkim and Bengal.
