On April 23, 2016, R&B singer Beyonce released her sixth album, Lemonade. It is a powerful conceptual album that had engrossing visuals, so much so that there was even a one-hour film shown on HBO to accompany the release of the album.
Lemonade garnered critical acclaim, with some noting that it is the singer's best and a most innovative work so far. And this is where our story begins. A woman decided to run topless for a very good reason. Want to find out why? Check out the story right here!
However, there is something incredible about her that made her stand out. This characteristic is what made her a candidate to be in the Hope and Freedom portion of the visual album.
Moreover, this woman plans to walk a staggering 1,000 miles while being topless.
In 2014, she had a double mastectomy. A mastectomy is a surgery in which one or both of the breasts are removed, either completely or partially. This is done to get rid of breast cancer.
She hopes that June 27 will be the day when she successfully reaches Washington DC.
In order to record the events, the 49-year-old's travels will be documented in a video.
While the singer agreed to walk with Paulette Leaphart, she said that she would rather walk with her for a mile rather than just a block.
Aside from her precious daughters, Paulette will also walk with filmmaker Emily MacKenzie.
For now, she has already garnered more than $1,000 through the GoFundMe page. She wrote that she would walk for her four cousins who lost their mother due to cancer.
According to Paulette, God told her that she had developed breast cancer. She had to undergo a double mammogram, but she could not get a reconstructive surgery because of her blood condition.
Paulette hopes that women, especially black women, will no longer feel ashamed for something they should not feel guilty about.
