Often we hear about people from Japan or from Europe, who are more than 100 years old. But back in the day, someone managed to live for a staggering 256 years.
Li Ching Yuen is no longer alive, but documents are stating just how old he had been.
In a New York Times article, he noted that the records of the old Imperial Chinese government revealed Li Ching Yuen was already 150 years old.
These documents were from 1877 and congratulated Li Ching Yuen for reaching 200 years.
This was stated in 1928 when a correspondent from the New York Times said that many men in Li's community were familiar with him.
During this time, he went to mountain ranges to get herbs and educate himself about their effects.
He had wild ginseng, lingzhi, goji berry, Gotu Kola, and some rice wine. When he reached the age of 71 in 1749, he became a martial arts teacher for the Chinese army.
Many women admired him and saw that he might have a genetic advantage as a father.
This means being as patient as a tortoise, moving like a pigeon, and resting like a dog. That is what he said to the warlord Wu Pei-fu, who wanted to know Li's secret.
In addition, having a healthy diet significantly contributed to his long life.
