You think you know everything about The Fault In Our Stars? I bet not.
Well, we all cried about Gus' unexpected death, wished we could get the same infinity they had, and just cried a lot more. Basically, TFIOS is the ultimate tear-jerker we all couldn't get over with. I watched it more than 20 times (yes, my eyes still get puffy), the BTS videos, interviews, you name it, so I thought I knew everything about this film. But, until now, there are just a lot of NEW FACTS COMING OUT.
Read this and know what John Green, the cast and crew, and especially the costume designer have spilled- secrets, tricks, and all, about the film.
He acted as a father waiting with his daughter at the airport. The scene was cut because, according to John, "it was unnecessary to the film slash I'm terrible." (We love you, John)
TFIOS was given limited filming access to the real house, so most of the scenes at Anne Frank's House were filmed in a replica. The entire interior of the house was built in a studio in Pittsburgh.
"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves." –Cassius, Julius Caesar
Ansel Elgort said it was shot 2 months in Pittsburgh and just 3 days in Amsterdam! Unbelievable, right?
Being the most acquainted to the characters, he helped the actors to immerse on their roles giving stories and tips every now and then.
The film started with Hazel and Gus' clothes in light shades, getting darker as the plot progresses. Hazel only wore black on Gus' death. The film's costume designer confirmed this in an interview with Seventeen.
The truth: Ansel didn't lose weight in real life, it was just a wardrobe trick!
The three stooges literally destroyed the dining room table and the Oriental rug in that house. THEY GOT SCOLDED. HA HA
