Whenever a baby is born, the parents hope that it would grow very nicely. Ideally, he will not be underweight and he will receive the necessary vaccinations to prevent any diseases. However, what happens if a baby born with an abnormal feature?

When Bentley Yoder was not yet born, doctors advised his parents about his condition. In fact, Sierra Yoder and Dustin Yoder were even asked if they wanted to abort Bentley.
Encephalocele is an incredibly rare defect wherein the brain moves away from the skull and from the bones, making it hard to grow properly.
Even if the baby survives, he would be living an awful life as he would have no cognitive functions at all.
This is because the couple wanted their first son, Beau, to have a sibling. Thus, they were willing to accept Bentley's assumed quick life on Earth.
When Bentley Yoder was born after a few months, he did not die immediately. In fact, they were able to take him home. While the baby became sick most of the time, he still survived. Bentley Yoder even recovered from a respiratory virus.
Doctors observed that Bentley was utilizing his brain, which meant he had cognitive functions intact.
Bentley loves to smile, and he does not look so strange now because his hair has grown. In fact, he looks cute!
For one, he needed to have his cranium expanded in order for his brain to go back inside his skull. This operation was done by the surgeons working at Boston Children's Hospital.
