There have been many documented cases of people affected by gigantism or dwarfism due to imbalances in the growth hormone. It causes one to be exceptionally tall and extraordinarily stunted in height if the growth hormone in the body isn't regulated correctly. But Adam Rainer has been the only person in the history of humankind who was affected by both conditions at the same time.
It's hard to believe, but he was in perfect health as a child, and as he grew older, the growth hormone levels started fluctuating until it started affecting his height. Adam was only 4'6" in height when he was 16, which is short for a man of his age. By the time he reached the age of 21, he had grown a few inches but was still deemed short by the government because they rejected him by his height as he tried to be a soldier. But by the time he reached his 30s, he shot in height and grew almost up to 7 feet.

But he was 4'6" in height at the age of 16. He also tried to fight in the First World War, but he was rejected due to his small height.
But by the time he was in his 30s, he was 7'1".
There was a magical difference in the height within a period of 10 years, and it was very shocking to whoever observed it. As it turns out, he had a tumor on his pituitary gland which led to the excessive production of growth hormone.
He started developing an abnormal curvature of the spine and had to undergo surgery to get the tumor removed. The surgery didn't work 100% because only a major part of the tumor was removed. Hence, his growth was slowed down but not entirely stopped.
As he grew taller, he started having issues with his spine which made him lose his ability to walk, plus he suffered from hearing and eyesight issues too.
He was the only man in the history of mankind who lived to be a dwarf and a giant.
