The new trend which has taken over the image based social site sees artists transforming lips into colourful palettes as makeup weds art, as we lesser mortals get to see scintillatingly mesmerizing pouts.
With wacky beauty trends becoming a rage over social media, rainbow coloured lips, leopard print inspired art, cool landscapes and even ravens and insects and are getting painted on to lips.
Jazmina Daniel with 768,000 followers is one of the most famous instagrammers. She uses puckers, rainbow hued glitter and liquid lip colour to create floral, marble, holographic and Dory inspired pouts.
She took to this form of art after being diagnosed with a brain tumour and says it had a therapeutic effect on her. "It was like my therapy," she told Buzzfeed. "I started to experiment with my lips instead of just a full face or eyes. It's probably been four years now since I've been doing lip art."
Andrea Reed who goes on Instagram by anastasiabeverlyhills has a following of over 100,000 people. Her dripping honeycomb, leaf veins, sprinkle doughnut lip art, stung, defragmentation and rose water decals have won her accolades from all over the globe.
Soolmoz Taylor, an aesthetician by profession, too has followers who just can't seem to have enough of her. Her eye popping golden glitter work and a gothic creation where an incompletely covered black lip was merged into a series of musical notes, giving the effect of makeup dissolving in music left her admirers wonder struck, both by her ingenuity and the brilliant attention to detail.
Thousands other instagrammers too are trying their hand at metallic drip art as artists try out various textures, combinations and materials.
