Whiteheads are basically a kind of comedones or a form of acne caused by clogging of skin pores with dirt and dead skin. The whiteheads mostly occur over nose, cheeks, forehead and chin. They affect both women and men during their teen years and beyond.
You may have heard of blackheads, whiteheads are similar to it except these appear as yellow or white bumps. People with oily skin and excess sebum production are more prone to have whiteheads. The basic reason behind whiteheads to develop can be hormonal changes or genetic factors.
Note- Never pop your whiteheads with your hands as this will worsen your condition and will aggravate your pimples causing more infection and scarring.
To cure whiteheads in the best possible way is to prevent its occurring. Well, these are few of the preventive measures.
Dirt or bacteria on your hands can provoke your whiteheads problem. So before you touch your face, wash with antibacterial soap.
To minimize the chances of oil and dirt building up in skin pores, use cleanser to clean your face and wash in morning and night regularly.
Use a facial scrub to exfoliate your skin as exfoliating will help in getting rid of whiteheads. You can steam your face alternatively so as to open your pores and clean them. And later, use cotton cloth wrapped with ice cube so as to close them again.
After scrubbing, apply moisturizer so that skin does not dry. Moreover applying moisturizer is good irrespective of the skin type you have.
Clay mask is found to be most helpful in removing dead skin cells. You can even make a paste of baking soda and water apply it on your face, pat dry and then wash thoroughly.
You should always wipe out your makeup before sleeping. For this, you can use cleansing milk or baby oil to wash properly.
Well, the manual process is not recommended much as it can cause infection. Though you can use the steam method mentioned above. But make sure to wash hands before performing any method.
Try Benzoyl peroxide and leave it for 5 to 10 minutes on the affected area. It may cause itching initially but it will be normal later.
While choosing your makeup products like moisturizer, lotion or cleanser choose water based products as oil-based could result in more of whiteheads or blackheads.
Eat lot of fruits and green leafy vegetables, drink sufficient amount of water, exercise daily, and keep your face and hands clean.
