Indian PM Narendra Modi is on his five-nation whirlwind tour. Modi has arrived in the US after visiting Afghanistan, Qatar and Switzerland. He will be soon leaving for Mexico in the last leg of his five-nation tour.
Recently his statement at a function in Washington, America has taken the internet by storm. This event was conducted for the repatriation of Indian cultural property. Modi spoke about the sculptures of Konark temple at the ceremony for repatriation of cultural property.
PM stated, "The artists in the 2000-year-old Sun Temple of Konark made statues wearing skirts and holding purse. This means that this practice (of wearing skirts and using purse) was prevalent even then."
