To give you goosebumps, here are 10 brutal human experiments from the history of science.
In 1939, 22 orphan children were admitted to the university of Iowa for monster study. The children were divided into two groups. One group was exposed to positive speech therapy, while the other was enforced to negative speech. The children exposed to negative speech developed psychological issues and faced speech problems for rest of their life. This inhuman experiment was kept as a secret from the world until the society discovered it.
Project Mkultra involved the use of drugs and methodologies for examining the mental states to alter brain function. The experiments administrated LSD to CIA employees, doctors, military officials and private members for studying the reactions without prior consent. The Project Mkultra created an outcry among the intellectual masses for violating the Nuremberg Code.
Stanford prison experiment was executed for studying the human responses to captivate the effects in the behavior of prisoners and volunteers. The prisoners and guards played their role in the basement and crossed the boundaries implied for behavioral study. In 1954, the Marshall Island residents were exposed to radioactive fallout after the Bravo Nuclear Test at Bikini Atoll. The radioactive exposure aimed to study the effects after the 5yrs of exposure, which resulted in stillbirths and miscarriages. Later, the experiment caused impaired growth of children, thyroid cancer, and neoplasms.
Aversion project was an experiment practiced by Apartheid army to eradicate sexuality of lesbian and gay soldiers. The operation included electric shock, chemical castration, and unethical medical experimentation. The Apartheid army surgeons carried experiment 900 forced sexual reassignment operations.
Tuskegee study was a research on untreated syphilis in the male negros. The African-American citizens did not accept the experiment in Alabama. During the experiment, many patients were lied and given placebo treatments for studying the fatal progression of the disease. By the end of the experiment, just 74 patients survived, the wives got infected and children were born with congenital syphilis.
North Korean experimentation was practised on prisoners at the concentration camps. The experiment included forcefully feeding poisoned cabbage leaves to women, which caused extreme bleeding from mouth and anal. As a result, the prisoners died. The prisoner families were observed in a laboratory sealed and injected with poisoned gas.
Soviet poison lab is also known as laboratory 1, laboratory 12 and the chamber. It was a secret poison research lab of the Soviet secret police agencies. The experiment included testing deadly poison on prisoners. The main aim of the Soviet lab was to discover a poison which could not be detected in the post-mortem. Finally, the research lead to the discovery of chemical C2, which transformed victims physically and killed them silently within 15 minutes.
