I n India, it has never been easy for a woman (same goes with the world as well). Although, we're coming up with heavy words like 'feminism' or 'women empowerment,' most of Indians are still partial towards the men and look down upon women. As we girls grow up, we are taught specific set of values, morals and rules to be followed if we want to live in the Indian 'society.' These rules that are put in place seem rather unjust considering the fact that only women are supposed to be victims to it and only women are to be blamed if something goes wrong. One such girl grown up in a conservative family talks about her experience. She took to Reddit to explain her dilemma of being a girl and how her family treated her in comaprison to her brothers. She represents a very gruesome reality of many Indian girls and shares experiences that every Indian girl can relate to.
She was forced to be the 'perfect' daughter ever since she was young and realizes how she became a natural submissive girl because of that.
In India, generations of girls have been brought up in the same way. They are given warnings and ultimatums about not finding the 'right guy' or not being able to get happily married if she doesn't behave in a certain way. On the contrary, the men these women marry are allowed to do anything and everything before and after marriage but they aren't questioned.
Whether she wants to study or work or get married, she needs to take permission before she takes a step ahead.
Across the country, girls are asked to submit willingly or forcefully without asking too many questions. It's been so bad that girls have accepted this fate in their life without even logically thinking about it.
Because what will equality and independence even mean to a girl who's been restrained in her own house by her own parents?
Women in India haven't thought of another life or a way to escape this evil, only because they're told what to do and not question anything. Hence, their minds have been purposely shut to all logic. All this only to become a perfect Indian girl.
