Resilience in the face of adversity is a quality not found in many, but when found, it can be a great source of inspiration and a strong source of strength. And that is exactly why this photo of the married couple, Kelly and Jesse, is going viral.
At first glance, it might not seem anything more than a loving couple's photo together, but it is only when you look closer that you realize that this photo stands for much more. So, scroll down and take a good look.
The photo shows wife Kelly giving a piggyback ride to her double-amputee husband, Jesse. Read the story ahead:
Jesse accidentally stepped on an IED which led to him getting caught in an explosion that took away his legs.
The whole incident was caught on video by a fellow marine who had a helmet camera on.
Jesse was immediately brought back for treatment, but alas, it couldn't save his legs.
Jesse feels that had he not stepped on that IED, he would not have met Kelly. And so, he'd never take back what happened.
After months in the hospital, recovering, he met Kelly in San Diego during one of his outings after being given prosthetic limbs.
Recently, the two took a trip to visit Kelly's family and that's where they decided to take a family photo in the water. It was there that the photographer had the idea of taking a photo of the two, which later went viral after being posted online.
Our respect and admiration for the both of them!
