The WWE is all set for its next Per-Pay-View starting from May 22 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey for Extreme Rules. The main attraction this year is going to be the belt of WWE World Heavyweight Championship put by Roman Reigns against AJ Styles. Boy, I can't wait for 22nd to arrive!
This would be the seventh season of the WWE PPV with extreme rules. In the previous six years of PPV's existence, a new champion has been crowned FIVE TIMES! So would AJ continue the legacy of the challengers or Reigns will keep his belt?
Here's the list!
Back in 2009, the first ever WWE PPV witnessed Randy Orton defend his title against Batista in a steel cage match. Orton tried a lot to escape the steel cage many times, but one Batista bomb and Orton knew he'd be losing his belt for that year.
This one grudge match was one of the most awaited matches of '09 Extreme Rules. The ladder match saw Hardy capture his second world title in the WWE where he trapped Edge's legs in the ladder only to make Edge feel helpless AF.
Jeff Hardy was newly crowned WWE Champion when CM Punk defeated him in the ER 09. Hardy accepted his defeat by leaving the ring but their rivalry sure didn't. Punk shocked Jeff with two GTS' to bag the crown.
One of the biggest reasons people loved this match so much because the long-suffering Christian finally win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Christian defeated Alberto Del Rio in a ladder match. Del Rio, who appeared to be the stronger wrestler in almost entire match was surprisinngly defeated by Christian after a little distraction from Edge.
The triplet threat Steel Cage match saw John Cena defeat the former partners The Miz and John Morrison. While R-Truth did try to prevent Morrison from escaping the steel cage but Cena delivered an AA to The Miz from the top rope and thus winning the title.
