An incredibly heart-touching photo of a father holding his sick son in the shower has received tonnes of moral support from people around the world despite being removed by Facebook more than once. Heather Whitten captured the moment in November 2014 when her husband Thomas comforted their son Fox in the shower to keep his fever down.
Fox was admitted to the hospital for salmonella poisoning few hours after the photo was taken. Thomas held his twin child in the shower to rinse off the vomit and diarrhoea both as it came.
Heather Whitten, who is a professional photographer, is also a mother of four and lives with her husband in Southern Arizona. She recalls, "As I sat in the shower with the two of them I was just overwhelmed with the scene in front of me."
Whitten writes in her recent Facebook post, "His whispers of reassurance to Fox, that he would be ok and that Thomas would take care of him were so steady and so honest."
"I was taken aback by how many people missed the story or didn't even look past the nudity to find the story," Whitten writes in her Facebook post. "They were just hung up on them both being nude and being in the shower. I had crossed a line. It was too intimate. It shouldn't be shared publicly. But, I disagree." In the above photo, Fox can be seen sitting on his mother's lap.
Facebook removed the photo more than once as a violation of its photograph rules. Her recent post with the viral photograph has been liked more than 134,000 times and shared 31,794 times till now.
Whitten claims that there aren't any "private parts" showing in the photograph. "I wish I could express this all in a better way," she writes.
"Love for a child is of no comparison, and you can tell Fox is at ease with his dad," read a comment in the comment section.
