China is a nation that apparently believes in competition. This new Disneyland in Shanghai will prove the same. The 963 acre, $5.5billion magnum opus is about to open on June 16th. However, a trial run has been started. All the tickets have been sold, so there is no chance we can go there. We might as well look at the pictures and admire it as much as we like.
Let the fairytale begin.
The trial run was able to gather a crowd of around 30,000 people on the second day, and the figure doesn't seem to dwindle at all.
Though similar in size to the Hong Kong Disneyland, Shanghai Disneyland is believed to be cheapest of its competitors. During off-peak, tickets will cost visitors 370 yuan (£39) then rising to 499 yuan (£51) during peak times.
This area will include the Star Wars Launch Bay, where fans can rendezvous with the movie's characters and villains as well as enjoy the TRON Lightcycle Power Run, a ride where visitors sit on motorbike pulled carriages. How cool!
The Shanghai Disneyland is the company's sixth expedition all over the world. The park is likely to exhibit Traditional Chinese culture mingled with the magic of Disney.
This castle is the center of the attraction of the kingdom. It is dedicated to all the beautiful Disney princesses we have seen and adored so far, and is believed to be the largest among all the other sorority castles.
Mosaics depict all four seasons through the tales of Tiana, Merida, Rapunzel, Elsa and Anna while an illuminated marquee will showcase motifs attributed to Belle, Cinderella and Snow White.
The park is split into different themed lands, including Tomorrowland, the Enchanted Storybook Castle, Fantasyland, the Gardens of Imagination, the Treasure Cove, Adventure Isle, Mickey Avenue and Disneytown
This shot shows Tomorrowland, which will house the TRON Lightcycle Power Run, the Star Wars Launch Bay, Buzz Lightyear Planet Rescue and the Stitch Encounter.
Disneytown is just a part of one the park's six themed lands. The park is designed keeping in mind its parallelism with the Chinese culture.
Treasure cove is a land specifically dedicated to the Pirates Of The Caribbean Series, and is one of its kinds.
Shanghai Disneyland is the first park in the series to include musical symphonies and mythical creatures from the film, Fantasia.
The park also has Remy's Patisserie, a French-inspired bakery styled on Ratatouille, and Sweethearts Confectionery, a sweet shop representing Minnie Mouse's childhood home. It also offers some high-tech attractions based on its supernatural and sci-fi films.
The park will also hold lavish Disney themed hotels and restaurant. In a nutshell, it has all the attractions that could be accommodated in a single park. From Disney princesses, Micky-miney to star wars, TRON and pirates of Caribbean, you will find everything here.
We can't wait for it to open. I am sure you are in the same boat. Plan a trip to Shanghai with your friends as soon as the park opens. Until then, keep admiring the pictures.
