Every one of us is frustrated of navigating between different apps on tiny screens of smartwatches. Why should we confine ourselves within the constraints of smaller screen sizes?
Though in the course of time, our smartphones have gotten bigger and bigger in terms of screen size, but the screen of smartwatches are still smaller. But to make them look elegant and fashionable, we can't have bigger screens on our wrist. Recently a team at the Future Interfaces Group has come up with an innovative solution to this problem.
They have come up with a new technology in smartwatches and it is called Skintrack. With their brand new approach, they are gonna make your skin act as a touchscreen. It will also enable your skin to act as buttons and slider.
One is a signal-emitting ring which is to be worn on the finger that enables it to continuously track the touch by emitting low-energy high-frequency AC signals.
This sensing wristband contains 4 different electrodes to compute and measure 2D finger touch coordinates. These electrodes pick up the signals emitted by finger ring and track their respective touch coordinates.
So you could now dial by tapping on your wrist. Even the hover location is shown to improve precision.
Navigating between different apps was never this much easy.
You could scroll from the screen or you could scroll rapidly from scrolling on the skin.
Now just move your fingers on the skin and crush that pig with Angry Bird.
