The slaughter of 5,000 innocent, harmless buffaloes, recently made the news. The Gadhimai Hindu festival, celebrated in Nepal rendered every heart speechless. The bloody massacre was hideous. The violent scene attracted the attention of various organizations. The ugly ritual is 260 years old. Countless animals have been put to sword as a part of what they call, "an act of Godliness". It's time we join hands with PETA to stop this. Let's be the part of the Change, to bring good to this World.
Not only this, but many other rituals and traditions all around the world are questionable. They grant wishes or not is another part of the story. But the bottom line is that these traditions are painful, merciless and gruesome.

The Gadhimai Hindu Festival, recently saw the slaughter of 5,000 innocent buffaloes. The belief is that, the slaughter will make the Hindu Goddess of Power, Gadhimai happy. She will then grant them all their wishes true.
People here believe that, the deceased should no longer be present in any form. So as and when the dead body is burned, the ashes are equally divided. These ashes are then consumed by the family members.
It is a common practice in India. The dead bodies, floating in the river of Ganges are considered sacred and used for the act. They believe that doing this will bring supernatural powers and immortality.
The Elderly are set on a floating Iceberg, with no food and company. They either starve, or are frozen to death. Eskimos believe in afterlife and this is their way of setting their loved ones free on a new journey without being a burden to the Family. Strange!
A man has to get his tooth removed while keeping feathers in his mouth. This will soak all the blood. This ritual is performed with the use of a wooden tool, to prove that he is now a man.

Amputation is considered a form of mourning in many traditions. As a member of the family dies, the women of the house has to give away her finger.
