Daniel Smith is a retired firefighter who lives in a small suburban town in America.
One day, Daniel was cleaning his garage. He wanted to get rid of all the junk that he had gained over his thirty years of living in that house.
Daniel was shocked to find a bicycle that was almost new. He realized it was from his son's ninth birthday, many years ago before his son was diagnosed with cancer.
Daniel's next-door neighbor has a young son. Daniel knew the family doesn't have much money.
Daniel saw the child playing outside. Carrying the bike, Daniel approached the child. The child was confused. Daniel said he would sell the bike to the child for a low price.
The child said he did not have a lot of money, only a pile of quarters. Daniel did not want to take all of the child's money, but he knew the father would not want the child to get the bike for free. Daniel told the child the bike could be his for only two quarters. The child happily took the deal.
Now Daniel's son's bike is put to good use and the child is happy. Daniel teaches the child how to ride the bike because his father is busy.
