Karan Johar is the owner of Dharma Productions film studio which has churned out several blockbuster, high-grossing films over the past few years. From the likes of the recent Kapoor and Sons to the cult classic Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Karan Johar as a director, has proved his capabilities time and again. Recently, K.Jo has purchased the rights of "Oopiri" a super-successful south Indian film about a wheelchair-bound billionaire and his male caregiver. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to remake the classic movie Khalnayak. He had a word with Subhash Ghai and the two reportedly met over lunch and Ghai demanded 9 crores for the sale of the rights! The deal, however, is yet to be sealed.
Subhash Ghai has already sold the rights to his movie "Ram Lakhan" to Karan Johar. The film will be directed by Rohit Shetty. The role of the younger brother Lakhan will be played by Varun Dhawan, while Sid will play the role of the elder brother Ram.
Rakesh Roshan's 1988 thriller is being adapted to an Austrailian series, "Return to Eden". Reportedly, Deepika has been approached to play the role of lead Rekha.
Rohit Shetty is going to direct the remake of the Kishore Kumar-Madhubala starrer film with Shahrukh and Aishwarya in lead roles.
The two will be paired after 12 years as they were last seen in Devdas.
"Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" is the name of the remake of this movie. K.Jo has already got Aishwarya Rai, Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan on board and it is already generating a lot of buzz.
Manish Paul will replace Sohum Shah in this remake of 1983 cult classic. Manish will play the role of veteran actor Farooq Shaikh.
The film will feature real-life siblings Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem. The movie involves a brother and a sister fighting against a murderous spirit.
