It's been two years to the death of Fred Phelps, head of the Westboro Baptist Church. Still the anti-social elements of the Westboro Baptist Church are seen doing disrespectable demonstrations outside of funerals.
Richard Pierce is a Vietnam veteran and member of a counter demonstration to Westboro's picketing of Beau Biden's funeral. When he spotted a Westboro activist humiliating the American flag, he did something amazing.
This 64-year-old vet was among the 300 counter-protesters at the funeral in Wilmington, Delaware.
Vietnam vet wanted to assure safety during the procession as the Vice-President share a special bond with his son.
Pierce lost his temper on seeing the lady dragging the flag under her feet.
Pierce explained, "It was not my intention to cause a problem. However, when i saw the young lady walking across the highway, dragging our flag under her feet, I lost my temper and the only way that i could demonstrate that is spill my coffee on them."
Vet stated, "So many people have died in defense of that flag. I don't care who you are, you are not going to disrespect the flag. And if I have to go to jail to defend that flag, I am going to do it. I take that very strongly."
Still this veteran was arrested on the grounds of misconduct.
Brooklyn President Peter Orsi wrote, "I would like to get in touch with Richard Pierce... somehow if you could give my info I would like to buy him a gift card for maybe Dunkin Donuts for the service he gave to this country in Vietnam and for the coffee he spilled on those protesters at the Biden funeral."
