Deputy Superintendent Mohammad Tanzil Ahmed of the National Intelligence Agency was shot dead when he was returning home from a wedding with his wife and two children in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor, his hometown.
He was given an honourable farewell, although those present at the funeral were unhappy with the fact that no minister from the Central government came to give their condolences.
These unhappy souls are hurt as they want Tanzil to be declared a martyr, which he is. They are also agitated about the fact that an officer such as Tanzil who was investigating into cases like Samjhauta Express blast, Pathankot attack, and Bijnor bomb blast was not given proper security.
Tanzil's colleagues and friends who had gathered there paid their respects to the late hero.
Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal, visited the funeral site to pay his respects as well. There, he announced a 1 Crore compensation to the family of the deceased. However, those present there began to raise slogans against the amount as they felt it was not sufficient to support the family.
Tenzil was shot by the assailant over two dozen times. It is clear that the assailant was waiting to launch an attack on him. Tanzil's wife too took four bullets and is currently in the hospital.
NIA chief Sharad Kumar has vowed to take down the assailant.
