Whitney Develle, a 22-year-old tattoo artist from Brisbane, Australia, stated on her Facebook and Instagram that she was offering to ink people for free who have self-harm scars in order to cover up their scars. Her first post was greeted with a lot of positive responses and she had to amend her offer. According to her posts, the former 50 sittings will be free and the latter will be given deep discounts.
She says,"I want you to be able to look down at the scars that bring you pain, embarrassment, shame, and be able to put those feelings behind you and instead feel proud of the body part that now contains art and offers a new beginning."
She told her how much pain it caused when people questioned her about the scars or make comments. She said,"No one should feel like a public museum for people to ridicule."
It's good to know that she is not the only artist making a generous offer, as tattoo artists from all over the world are stepping up to help people move on with their lives. Help me spread the word and show your love to Develle and Flavia by sharing.
