Foundation is the backbone of makeup and every woman knows this well.
But choosing the exact foundation for the skin is a very common issue faced by most of the women. I too personally feel stuck in the cosmetic aisle, overwhelmed by numerous choices of the foundation, and try to choose between " honey beige" and " sandy beige". Not only shades but brands like - Maybelline, Lakme, Oriflame confuses us a lot.
So here you are not alone, I will tell you perfect ways to choose the right skin foundation. Keep them noted before making a purchase.
Before choosing any cosmetic type or foundation, understand your skin tone. So before making any purchase, understand your undertone. Though due to acne or pimples the surface of the skin may change but the skin tone remains unaffected.
There are 3 categories of undertones like cool, warm and neutral. There are few tests which will help you in determining that you fall into which of the above categories. These tests assess hair and eye color correspondingly.
As know after knowing about the undertone, the choices can be confined. Cool undertones can choose shades red or blue base one, for warm undertones, golden or yellow base is suitable and neutral ones can go for buff and nude bases.
Using the information I told, choose few foundations that look closest to your skin tone and try out them by blotting up some swatches of it on your jawline. As the skin at your jawline is the truer to the skin tone of your face.
After knowing the skin type you can easily choose the foundation. Like for oily skin, matte-finish or oil-free powder foundation is best and fro dry skin moisturizing or stick foundation.
After battling with the colour of foundation, choosing the right coverage or formula is equally important. The formula finish can be satin, semi-matte or matte. The coverage also varies from sheer or light to medium to high.
You can customize your foundation. For lightening the foundation, add primer or moisturizer and to darken, you can add concealer or blush.
