Growing up is not easy for many, especially for transgender kids who are always being pressured by the society and the family to hide their reality. They're forced to live a life that doesn't belong to them.
But, there are some people like the 33-year-old Sona Avedian, who took the stand for her right and freedom, and fought for it. She is now motivating others to live the same dream.
She knew that she was a girl at the age of 4. One day Sona's mom caught her wearing women's clothes. Sona was then told to hide her identity as it didn't fit the family's conservative values.
The young Avedian served six combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
..from her wife and a young daughter.
Avedian said, "I became 238 lbs. of sadness. I was exhausted and I could no longer hide it."
Sona came out as a transgender. She started taking hormone therapy.
She started cycling and performing yoga; by sticking to a diet and exercise for long, she lost 98 pounds.
She said,"Since I came out I have tried to live a normal life - it's like anyone, there are good and bad times."
..and she says her girl understand her more than anyone
Don't forget to share her incredible story and her message of hope.
