So what would you do if you had a cyst growing out of your neck? How long would it have to grow before you run to the dermatologist's office in order to get it checked out? It could be a just a normal cyst or even a growing mass of cancer cells beneath your skin.
He visited Dr Lee's clinic and she was about to slice open this big lump and drain the fluid present inside it.
As the name suggests, it is present in the epidermal layer of the skin (2nd layer of skin) and it is not an ordinary phenomenon.
From the looks of it, yes but this one's also yucky from the inside. Not just that, an epidermoid cyst can be localized in a body but it will create an inflammatory reaction all over the body.
It resembles an abscess and the signs of this gross looking cyst would be swelling, tenderness, pain, warmth at that site and a definite iflammatory respnse.
Once it is sliced open, it will release a cheesy white gooey substance which is a build up of the inflammatory response caused due to death of healthy cells inside the skin.
It is done by the expert, Dr Sandra Lee, who often posts videos of her procedures on real patients.
If you're lucky enough and the cyst is small in size, it can be evacuated in one sitting.
Not only does the cyst grow in size, but the material inside it will start to thicken. Usually in early stages, the material inside the skin will be mostly liquid but if you ignore for a long time, it might also turn thick and take a semi solid form.
Along with thickening of the material inside the cyst, there are also chances of infections.
