Petra was captured in April of 2015 on the outskirts of Athens, Greece. The lady that spotted Petra, and got her on camera, immediately posted the photos on social networking sites with an expectation of earning help for the tormented creature.
Look how she has got her life changed since then.
She would grovel and run from anybody approaching her.
They successfully sent her to the 'Save a Greek Stray' safe house in Oropos after days of hardwork.
When Valia Orfanidou, one of the safe houses' most experienced individuals in recovery, met Petra, she committed herself to take Petra's care at any expense.
Among the numerous minor issues, she experienced mange (which created the sores and scabs that gave her the awful appearance), and leishmaniasis, a contamination spread by bugs that is frequently fatal if not treated.
Once the mange faded, her true beauty was apparent. But, she would still fear the other puppies, snarl at them, and would hide in fear. She wouldn't go for a stroll for more than a couple of steps, and then would require much motivation to carry on.
And a very joyous creature. She is truly a miracle and an inspiration for animal-savers out there!
