The 88th Annual Academy Awards have been generating a lot of controversies. For second consecutive year, the Academy has snubbed a lot of African-American actors who delivered praiseworthy performances this year.
There is a "lack of diversity" in the nominations pool, and the African-American community isn't happy about it. The ones who are snubbed include the actor Will Smith for his movie "Concussion" and Ice Cube for "Straight Outta Compton".
But now, controversy has taken a turn for the worse, and several African American actors have decided to boycott Oscars 2016.

Jada Pinkett Smith and Spike Lee were quick to respond, both saying they would not attend this year's ceremony.
Chris Rock, who is the host of this year's Academy Awards, is himself a member of the African-American community! He sent out a tweet where he said "Oscars are white people's BET (Black Entertainment Awards)"
He condemned the lack of diversity in the nominations pool and said "We're moving in the wrong direction"
Lupita, who won the Oscar for her role in the movie "12 Years A Slave" was not pleased with Academy when she heard about Black Actors being snubbed.
An amazing movie which had predominantly black actors was snubbed and didn't get even a single nomination.
She said "dramatic steps" will be taken to increase diversity and number of women in the nominations pool.
Despite celebrities refusing to attend the award show, the show will go on and Chris Rock will serve as the host this year.
