The activity called at water surfing would soon be possible to be done in the air. A new adventure called wind boarding has been developed where an airfoil shaped board cuts through the air behind an airplane. The adventure-lovers can now see themselves as the Silver Surfer.
Check out this awesome invention.
Aaron is the lead engineer and founder of Wyp Aviation, who is developing the board. He said that the direction could be changed by shifting the weight just as in the usual water boards.
"The WingBoard is like a wakeboard, but instead of slicing through waves behind a boat, you're being towed by a plane, carving through clouds. Aviation is my passion - not only is it my 9-5 job, it is my hobby."
Tests have shown that the rider can remain stable in the air as he is pulled by the aircraft. To land on the ground, the person will have to use the parachute on his back.
"I work a standard day as a flight test engineer, come home to my wife and son, and after my son is in bed head out to the workshop until 1 am most nights to bring my dreams of the future of aviation to reality."
Stunts such as barrel rolls can also be performed on the board as shown here.
Mr Wypyszynkski will be making a full scale prototype of the design which wil then be tested in the back of a light aircraft.
"Wingboard is the only opportunity where you can stand with the wind in your face and control yourself in the sky. The Wingboard combines the ability of a wakeboard or a snowboard and brings it to three dimensions."
The wheels are to help it in flying along with the aircraft, but for the lading, the person is expected to use the parachute provided.
If you feel the adrenaline rush in you, share it with your friends, too.
