Jenna was born with a tumor which was slowly crushing her windpipe. The tumor was so serious that the doctors had to immediately perform a Tracheotomy before cutting the umbilical cord. Jenna had to undergo several months of chemotherapy before she got all well.
Lisa and Antony were given the worst news possible about their daughter. They overcame the difficult phase of their life and had accepted the problem with their daughter. They have been told that it could be years till their daughter recovers completely from being able to speak. They seem to have taken the news quite well.
When the parents were given the horrifying news, they were sad at first but they agreed upon whatever the doctors told them. They took the news very well and even made Jenna learn sign language so that she won't have to face any problems in expressing her feelings in the near future.
When Lisa was about to give birth to Jenna, the doctors had to pause the C-section in order to perform the Tracheotomy. Only then the umbilical cord was cut off.
Jenna could not have a normal childhood like the other kids. She has seen hospitals all her life. She has spent most of her nights in the hospital bed with drips all over her. She has spent most of her first year in the hospital waiting to recover.
As the parents are well aware that it could be months before Jenna could start talking, they have started teaching her sign language and have started learning it themselves. Jenna recently confessed her feelings for her dad in sign language. She told him that she loves him. This would have been so great for the proud dad to witness.
The parents and relatives have very high expectations that Jenna would talk in a few years as she makes noises from her mouth every now and then as her windpipe is not fully crushed. I wish that the sweet little Jenna can talk in future.
