We might have seen many of our favourite TV actresses on-screen playing the role of a mom raising her kids perfectly in a happy married life. But, you would be surprised to know many of the TV stars have had a rough married life off-screen. This led to divorce and they were left to bring up their kids all by themselves. But, they never gave up. In fact, they brought up their kids on their own without any support from anybody.

She broke the societal rules as she decided to bring up her daughter Masaba all by herself in 1989. Masaba is the daughter of Vivian Richards, West Indian cricket icon and Neena. But, Vivian and Neena never married. Neena said, " In India there are so many poor women who are forced to be single mothers. The only difference with me was that I did it by choice. It was very tough and I wanted to do it.." Neena married Vivek Mehra, Delhi-based businessman in 2008.
She got divorced from Bunty Negi in 2013. She brought up her daughter Aara all by herself. She said, "I impose restrictions on my daughter, but, am also very protective towards her."
She is raising her daughter, Diva (born in 2005) all by herself. She wasn't married when her daughter was born and she never revealed who was her daughter's father. Rumours were there that it could be actor Dayanand Shetty (Daya from CID). But, the rumours were put aside. Mona said, "I am instinctively a fighter. I mentally uncurl up off the floor before the count gets to 10. I am solely responsible for my life - the good and bad in it, the tough and easy of it - and there is a grand plan laid out by nature or God, which will ultimately be fulfilled. You can either choose to be ashamed of your past and lament and hide, or you can marvel at the challenges life set you and the trips it sent you on, gather up all that and put it into a picture album and turn it into memories."
She got divorced from Farhan Furniturewala way back in 2003. She raised her two children - son Omar Ebrahim (born in 2000) and daughter Aalia Ebrahim (born in 1997) by herself. Pooja said, "I am more strict with my kids than my mom was with me. My kids get all the love in the world. But, certain values are important, like respect for elders."
She raised her kids - Paloma and Anmol all by herself after getting divorced from her husband in 1997. She said, "I believe you just have one life and there is so much to do. It's just a mental attitude. If you want to do something, you do it. You need to have a positive attitude, after all it's too easy to get bogged down in life."
She was married when she was only 16-year-old and became a mom at the tender age of 17. She got divorced from her husband a year and a half after marriage. Her twin sons - Sagar and Kshitij were raised by her alone. She says, "I have never mulled over the past nor do I think about the future. I have only seen a small part of life, some people have suffered much more than me. At least I had a very supportive family."
Shweta got divorced from Raja in 2007. She single-handedly took the responsibility of her daughter's (Palak) upbringing. Shweta said, "I am very close to my daughter. I don't try to be strict with her. I try to be friendly and find out things about her life from her. She tells me everything. She also tells me stuff, which she doesn't tell her friends. I think I am her best friend." Shweta married actor Abhinav Kohli in 2013.
