The transgender community in India has been widely be-shamed, treated as less worthy, inhuman, unequal, untouchable, to say the least. The bias against them is more prominent than the spice level in Indian food, and this needs to change. We aren't educated about gender identity and transgender people, and as a result, stereotypes and myths fill our minds leading to us believing anything we are told. One of the big steps taken by the judiciary of the country was to declare them as a 'third gender' providing them equal rights as any other person in the country. But the discrimination still exists in bright daylight, without any shame.
YFilms, along with highly acclaimed singer Sonu Nigam, are determined to stop it right here, and right now. Bringing the transgender community in the eye of the common man, to bring an end to the societal taboo! Introducing the country's first transgender band '6 Pack Band', it is hoped that it would help bring an end to the discrimination.

Staying in the darkest corners of the society, as a shadow, subject to discrimination, being treated as inferior beings. Yet, they are known for their blessings, invited on childbirth, weddings, and disgraced otherwise.
Despite being treated as dirt, they choose to continue to live their life and embrace it! They enjoy small pleasures of life and are true inspirations to everybody who has ever been depressed and questioning their self-worth.
The 6 Pack Band is launching their first album, a compilation of 6 original songs, including a cover of the Grammy-winning song 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams. This is the first song and music video that has been launched.
They aim at a higher audience and hence decided to launch an English song, that too one known by millions, as opposed to a Hindi one. They want to tell the world that they are 'Happy' and their spirit won't break by mere sticks and stones that the society has to hit them with.
And they don't stand alone, along with me, and several other supporters, they have the most loved singer, Sonu Nigam, and Y-Films, who stand with them in their support. Sonu has even joined in with the band for one of their songs.
Sonu expressed that this is something he has been wanting to do for quite some time, and the attitude of the general public towards the community is something that disturbed him. He said that as a child he used to think what would it be like to be a minority. Well, this is the example of the much-needed empathy country needs! Kudos to you Sonu!
