Ringworm is the communicable disease that causes itchiness on our skin and at last, forms red patches. When I think of this disease, the only thing that comes into my mind for it is- 'Disgusting.' From my childhood, I was scared of this infection, and I feel lucky enough as I never face it. But, many around me had this annoying disease, and I never came closer to them because of its terrifying looks.
Let's gain some information about the disease so you don't get into the contact of the infection.
Ringworm is also known as 'tinea' that is derived from a Latin word 'worm.' It is a crusty, round, scaly, and red patch on the skin. It mostly occurs in the moist and warm climates. And, the worst thing about this disease is that it spreads to the other person immediately as he/she into the contact with the infected person.
Ringworm that occurs on the whole body is called as 'Tinea corporis' that causes round spots on the skin.
Ringworms that occur on hand is known as 'Tinea manus.' It is a type of fungal infection that occurs on fingers, and palms that turn the nails of the finger and toe yellow, dense, and brittle.
Ringworm that occurs on the scalps of the small children is known as 'Tinea capitis' that results into bald spots.
'Tinea Faciei' occurs on face and sometimes even on necks.
It is also termed as 'Tinea pedis' and 'Athlete's foot' that causes burning sensation, scaling, and itchiness in the foot.
It is usually termed as 'Tinea cruris' that affects the groin area by producing some rashes and itchiness in the area.
