2015 has been a year full of controversies. From Bruce Jenner's transition to Donald Trump's racism, from Steve Harvey's Miss Universe fail to almost every celebrity feuding with each other, 2015 has given a lot to talk about.
So as the sun sets on 2015, let's have a look at some of the biggest and the most talked about controversies and scandals of 2015:
It all began when the music video for "Anaconda" did not receive the nomination for "Video of the Year" at MTV Video Music Awards 2015. Nicki was furious and took to Twitter to express her anger. Things got ugly when Taylor Swift misunderstood and assumed that the shade was directed towards her. Did we mention that Katy Perry jumped in too?
Rumor has it that things are not going too well between Katy and Taylor. The word on the streets is that Taylor's Bad Blood music video was based on her enmity with Katy Perry.
While one beef was squashed, another one began as Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj continued their feud at VMAs 2015. It began when Miley Cyrus made controversial comments in the New York Times Magazine. She said "If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement. But I don't respect your statement because of the anger that came with it". When Nicki went on stage to accept her award for Best Hip-Hop video, she put Miley on Blast:"And now, back to this b**** who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press: Miley, What's good?" To which Miley replied: "We're all in this industry. We all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate shit. Nicki, congratu-fu***n-lations." The mike was cut off as Nicki Minaj was seen mouthing the word "B***h". It sure was one of the most controversial moments in the VMA history.
Fashion Police has always been a show that doesn't hold back when it comes to ripping apart the celebrities based on their fashion choices. This time, the show went a bit too far when Giuliana Rancic made racist comments on Zendaya's dreadlocks. She said that it looks like her hair smells like "patchouli oil" or "weed". Zendaya was visibly upset by these comments. things went too far when Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin went as far as quitting the show because of Giuliana's comments. Giuliana issued a heartfelt apology later and apologized for her (racist?) comments.
2015 has been the year of Caitlyn Jenner. Ever since former Olympian Bruce Jenner announced the details of his Transition and the subsequent Vanity Fair shoot, Caitlyn has received widespread media coverage and has also been the butt of various controversies. From calling her daughter Kylie a "distraction" to receiving the Arthur Hart Courage Award ESPYs (for which, some critics believed were far more deserving candidates), one can say that 2015 has been quite an year for Caitlyn.
The "Problem" hitmaker ran into trouble when TMZ released a video where Ariana was seen licking Doughnuts at a shop and saying "I f******g hate America!" Some people believed that Ariana committed career suicide by making such comments. Ariana however delivered a heartfelt apology for her comments.
This was probably the biggest and the ugliest celebrity feud of 2015. Khloe Kardashian and Amber Rose made some highly offensive comments at each other. It all began when Amber Rose started slut-shaming the Kardashians. Khloe took it to Twitter and put Amber on blast: ""I was a stripper since I was 15 years old," Amber Rose told Foxx. Please don't worry about my sister who has a career & her s**t @khloekardashian: together at ONLY 17. people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Please stop talking about us in interviews mama. None of us talk about you." Things got uglier when Amber responded with even more offensive comments: "Yo @khloekardashian I'm really happy for u and I'm gonna let u finish but I have the best leaked nude pics of all time! #StopSweatinMeHoe,"The feud, rumor has it, is still on and seeing the kind of shots the two fired at each other, one cannot expect the two to bury the hatchet anytime soon.
Donald Trump has been the butt of all the jokes and criticisms in 2015. If running for the President was not enough, Donald made pretty reckless comments on "closing up the Internet" and not allowing the Muslims to enter the US after the recent attacks in Paris. Anyhoo, If I were an American, I would migrate to Canada if Trump became the President.
Charlie Sheen who is known in Hollywood for reckless lifestyle, being a drug addict and his phrase "Winning" made a shocking announcement this year of being diagnosed with HIV-AIDS. The announcement grabbed many eyeballs with some people being surprised and others considering it as the "natural outcome" of leading such a reckless lifestyle.
Lamar Odom (Khloe's ex-husband) was found unconscious in Las Vegas brothel after an alleged drug overdose. Lamar had a stroke and as of today, continues to be in the hospital. Khloe Kardashian, amidst all this, was put on a hot seat as she was seen hanging out with her new boyfriend and accused of being "insensitive". Khloe Kardashian has called off her divorce with Lamar for the time being.
By now, we all know about Steve Harvey's Miss Universe fail. It caused quite a stir in the media, from to allegations of the "mistake" being planned to get higher ratings to favoritism-every possible scenario has been brought to light and discussed at length. But Hey! It was just a mistake! A mistake that got people talking about this otherwise forgotten pageant. I don't know about you, but I will be tuning in next year! Congratulations Miss Philippines. And our condolences to you Miss Columbia!
