Punishments to unfilfilled customs by societies vary from one place to another. One sinful act in one area can be acceptable to another. All over the world, there are humane and degrading sentences being applied to 'culprits', depending on his/her degree of mistake. Sometimes, some punishments is added by public humiliation and lifetime embarrassment.
One of the recent hot topics related to punishments all over the world is the one that happened in Baiturrahumim Mosque, at Banda Aceh. A woman was beaten publicly because she failed to comply the Sharia laws effective to the region. Allegedly, she has romantic-ish kind of attachment to one of her male mates in the university, without being married.
When man and woman with no roots of being relatives, or when non-spouses show signs of romance and too much closeness. They should experience public canning.
The lady, Nur Elita, feels genuine pain upon being hit.
The punishment is real and serious in the region. Not only Nur Elita has experienced this in the course of enforcing the policy.
