Miss World, standing up with the battle cry "Beauty With A Purpose", finished just recently along with other major beauty pageants this planet has had. The 65th year of the competition concluded last December 19, 2015, at Sanya, China, and Miss Mireia Lalaguna from Spain was crowned as this year's queen. Little did others know, there were controversies left unsettled behind.
On almost the same day as the culminating night, Lin broke her silence. She uttered that the experience sprouted out due to her past citizenship and roots, current affairs and personal viewpoints.
Anastasia was born as Hunan in China, and she resided there for almost 13 years. Her mother encouraged her to learn calligraphy and piano at an early age. During her thirteenth year, she and her mother transferred to Toronto, Canada. While in here, she has been encouraged to think independently and more critically.
Lin achieved the Miss World Canada 2015 title with a crown last May 2015. Aside from her modeling experience, acting exposure and talent playing piano since 7, her wit, political and social awareness, as well as her heart for human rights proved her to stand above the rest.
Upon knowing her perspectives and primary intentions in joining Miss World, and eventually representing Canada in the said competition, the Chinese government refused to provide Anastasia pertinent documents for her entry. While at Hong Kong, she was advised not to go. Then, she learned about her 'persona non grata' status.
Her realization became clearer. She's not allowed to get into China anymore so that she will never have any chance to be heard by a single Chinese citizen living within. She talked about fighting for freedom, and pushing for self-expression and respect.
Anastasia was very particular that Falun Gong--a spiritual, meditation, martial arts, and a philosophical-based system still exists, and it was severely condemned by the current reigning party in China.
Many of the people she shares her original race with, for years get unimaginable pain which can cause physical, mental and emotional trauma. They are often subjects that are needed to be 'eradicated'
Aside from being locked in a non-time room, they are sometimes tortured and killed. Their organs were also taken away without due process. Their conscience was being harassed and pushed to 'limits'.
Her advocacy ignited even more when she became part of the Swedish movie Red Lotus, a masterpiece that is related to sufferings of Falun Gong practitioners.
Everywhere she goes, her heart for China's ultimate human rights issue does not cease. Whether diplomatic or non-diplomatic affairs, her defense was solid. She constantly influences others to carry her own fight too.
Even she's become a victim, her passion will not stop; it will still push through. She knows that one day, the Chinese people will have their time to stand for their own, and to be freer citizens of their society.
